Episode 216 - Abbott And Costello - Buck Privates & Keep Em’ Flying
To expand our variety of episodes we offer two military-comedy films. The comedy duo of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello fit the bill with their 1941 movies “Buck Privates” and “Keep ‘Em Flying”. With wars raging in Asia and Europe, there were several films in 1940 and 1941 aimed at building support for a United States military buildup. This was well underway on December 7, 1941.
In “Buck Privates” Abbott and Costello inadvertently enlist in the Army. Joining them for misadventures is a large cast including Jane Frazee as Judy Gray and the Andrews Sisters. “Keep ‘Em Flying” presents more comedy as Abbott and Costello navigate the Army Air Corps. Martha Raye as both Gloria and Barbara Phelps and many others join the action. Enjoy the high jinks!
